Great service, great value for money”

Location was very handy

Fantastic price. Rooms were very presentable and secure. Right in the heart of Darling Harbour. Amenities were very clean and the staff were very friendly. I would recommend for business travel or short trips but very affordable for longer journeys.I did not use the dining room, but the prices seem very competitive also. Would recommend the Woolbrokers to anyone.

Great budget accommodation ”

Always a pleasant stay here. Have been many times over the last 10 years. Staff are wonderful. Take advantage of the Carpark offer. Only $19 per 24 hours across the road which is cheaper then anywhere else around Darling Harbour. Continental breakfast was great. The manager let my family have breakfast free of charge. Hotel is within walking distance of Darling Harbour, The Star Casino and the Light Rail network. Love this place. Can't wait to come back.

OUR WOOLBROKERS STAY”

Great staff, good security, comfortable beds, I would however recommend that they make sure there are teaspoons in the rooms for tea/coffee, we only had dessert spoons. - The Coffee leaves a lot to be desired. The shower tiles really need a good clean in the unit we stayed in, but it was not so bad that you could now shower. I will most certainly use this venue again when I am travelling to Darling Harbour or surrounding areas.

Friendly Staff”

Stayed there for 3 nights, the hostel is well located right next to ICC Sydney & Convention tram station, walking distance to Chinatown, darling harbor & across the bridge will be the CBD area. The hostel looks a bit old from outside, but it is pretty clean inside with good ventilation, toilet is quite clean too. Our room was right next to the express way, but it was not so noisy at least for us. Reception staff are very friendly and helpful, especially the staff from Thailand!

Excellent budget stay in Sydney”

Value, Cleanliness, Friendly

Woolbrokers was a great budget stay just behind Darling Harbour. The rooms and shared bathrooms were extremely clean and of a very good size and the rooms had big televisions. The staff were extremely helpful with tourist information and very friendly. Clearly this was a budget hotel so there was an element of noise in the hallways and rooms above and our room looked onto an internal corridor so was a bit dark but it was clean, comfortable and value for money so we were happy! It would have been good if there had been some sort of internet access though (even if we had to pay extra).

Good for a short period stay”

I stayed here for 2 nights during Vivid Lights Festival. The location is near Darling Harbor. It is also safe and I didn't have to worry about going home late since the area from Darling Harbour Pyrmont Bridge to this hotel is well-lighted, and there were many people walking. I occupied one room with 2 single beds. The sheets were clean, but the room was overall unpleasant. It doesn't have an aircon or electric fan, and I could smell the old carpet. Luckily, I went on September -- when winter was already starting. My life would have been miserable if I went on a summer and booked this hotel. There are no bathrooms or shower inside my room, so I had to go outside and use the shared bathrooms. I dreaded the fact at first but when I was already there, I inspected all the bathrooms and showers and they were all clean. The bathrooms and showers in one floor were adequate, since I find most unoccupied. I like the fact that all bathrooms and showers are separate from each other, so it feels private. All the staff were very helfpful. I didn't requested much but when I checked in, I requested them to arrange for a hotel pick-up going to the airport and they did it right away. On my second day, I asked a different staff to change the time when I can be picked up from the hotel, and they were able to accommodate it in minutes. It all worked out good, but I'm not sure if I'll still book this hotel. For it's price, I cannot expect for more. But I really didn't like the ventilation and the smell of the room.

Clean, comfy, affordable and close to Darling Harbour”

Booked this place for 3 nights during the Queen's Birthday Weekend for Vivid Sydney and we are so glad we chose it because we are so near the action. Down to our last night tonight as I write this review. It had mixed reviews when we were booking and were qa bit worried but when we reached, the checkin was fuss-free and staff was very helpful. We learned that we got an upgraded room on arrival and my request for a quiet room was granted, we literally had undisturbed sleep for the past 2 nights so far. Room is clean, bed and sheets are comfy, got a TV, industrial desk fan, fridge, coffee, tea, milk, kettle and hair dryer in the room. Haven't bumped into any other visitors so far but I know there are people coz we hear them but we are loving it coz it feels very private this way. For all these, the price and the convenience of its location, we are pretty sure we will be staying here again!

One night was more than enough!”

The proximity to Darling Harbour and CBD - that's about it.

If you want a decent anything (night's sleep, shower, internet connection) you can forget it! I knew from other reviews that I'd booked a hotel room with a certain amount of soul, but on reflection it was a little too much 'soul' for me - plus - this place can't really call itself a hotel at all. I was keen to get a room near to Darling Harbour at a reasonable rate (everything else around that area at the time was ridiculously expensive). I was only in Sydney for one night, so I found this place and thought I'd take a gamble. I was on the second floor, with a room with bars on the windows and a full view of an expressway ramp - with all the associated traffic noise to-ing and fro-ing. Not to mention noises from passers by on the pavement one floor below - AND very noisy guests in the rooms next door and on the floor above. The walls were paper-thin. I ended-up sleeping with the pillow over my head to block it all out! I had to share a bathroom with just about everyone on the second floor. The taps on the shower were really stiff and took a while to comply, while the water supply itself failed to provide a consistent temperature (one minute attempting to freeze my bits; the next it was trying to boil them.) During the night and on the following morning, I found myself - on more than one occasion - hopping about the landing, desperately trying to find a free toilet, as someone seemed to be hogging the shared bathroom. There was no wifi - just a computer near reception with internet for an extra fee. Even for what I paid, I don't think this place was terribly good value for money. But the guy on reception was friendly enough and - yes - the location is great. Just 5-10 minutes' walk and you're in Darling Harbour and central Sydney. It's also only a few minutes from the nearest tram stop. Given that I did actually want a good night's sleep after all my travelling, in hindsight I think I would have opted to pay a little more and stay somewhere else.

Pro: 1. Free upgrade from a three sharing to quad sharing room 2. Walking distance to Darling Harbour 3. Can drinks selling in vending machine is cheaper than supermarket Cons: 1. The quilt is not clean, dirty stain on it 2. The bunk bed was squeaking, my son couldn't sleep well on that. 3. The queen size mattress was sagged on one side.

Although this hotel was an older hotel, it had a lot of charm”

The room was comfortable and in a great location very close to the light rail and Darling Harbor. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall, my stay was great and I would recommmend the hotel to others looking for a comfortable place at a reasonable rate. The only thing that was a slight bother was the fact that there was no closet in the room. Otherwise, everything about the place was great.

Close to Darling Harbour; good value for money”

Good size room; lovely hot showers; and $10 parking at an adjacent carpark!

Woolbrokers is an old hotel (hence old hotel features like the staircase, casement windows, etc) plus it is showing its age in certain areas such as the carpet in the room, beds and mattresses, etc. But the room we had was spacious and had the basic facilities that we wanted viz a fridge and a washpoint. We took this hotel for three reasons: 1. Proximity to Darling Harbour 2. Was within our limited budget; and 3. $10 per 24hrs parking - right on the edge of Darling harbour!

Great location but small rooms”

location, convenience

My son and I attended the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology at the Sydney convention Center at Darling Harbour. As a loyal customer of Agoda I looked at the possible available hotels nearest the convention center. I saw this offer which was reasonable and was situated in Darling Harbour although the only available was a quad room. We decided to book it even if there were only the two of us. True enough the hotel was a 5 minutes walk from the convention center. It was quite convenient since we had to attend a breakfast meeting at 7:00 am almost every day and go home after 5:00 pm. We did not have to spend for taxi fare every day. The room though was small for four people. It would have been a crowd if there were 4 of us. The toilet and bathroom had to be shared with other rooms although we did not see any other people using it. There is no elevator so if you are booked on the third floor it will be difficult to bring your heavy luggages up. The people in the reception area are accommodating. They advised us to tell the taxi driver to take Botany road to go to the airport so we spent less than when we came from the airport when we arrived.

it's an old building and the manager has promised that they will have an elevator and free wi-fi sometime in the future. meanwhile you have to pay 2 aud for 30 minutes (in the nearby shopping center you get an hour for that price, and free wi-fi at mcdonald's in the same place.) at breakfast the fruit comes out of a tin. my room had a window overlooking a stairwell that led onto other rooms. fresh air was coming from the courtyard further beyond. no daylight. but it was quiet, the room was large, and the common bathrooms and toilet were numerous so that i never had to wait. the hotel is perfect for its location.
