Yangon Excelsior is an outstanding hotel in many ways - the location is bang, slap downtown; the building has history and a sense of it - it has been stylishly refurbished retaining many period features while being utterly contemporary; the staff are both highly professional and warm - attentive without being imposing (at reception they remembered my name - and used it); the restaurant and coffee shop are great places to spend time in and well worth visiting even if you are not a hotel guest (the chef is a real find); there are touches here that are seldom found (e.g. antique typewriters and phones); overall the place is cool, serene and oozes class. One suggestion: please pay more attention to the quality of the coffee - but this is a mere quibble and not a complaint. We are already looking forward to our next visit. So should you!

Due to us arriving at Yangon at early in the morning,Excelsoir gave us a quite reasonable price for us to check in at 3 am, which even cheaper than the 8 am early check-in price that Agoda offered. The facilities are new and clean. Staff offered warm and comfortable service during the whole stay. My husband really appreciated the breakfast! Excelsior made the first perfect impression for our first time traveling to Myanmar. Definitely will pick here again!

Spoil yourself with this great value for money Gem in the heart of Yangon”

Living 3 years in Yangon we wanted to have a lottle staycation and knowing alot of hotels from drinks/dinners/brunch/friends the amazing price of this place, its history and design totally convinced us. The rooms are super spacious. Bed more than comfortable (heaven) service and staff beyond our expectations and breakfast delicious. All in all... Spend less on crappy souvenirs and spend as many nights as you can in this fantastic Gem in the heart of Yangon.

I stayed in Yangon Excelsior back in Feb 2020 and it was a pleasant stay. Love the room and the breakfast! Room is clean. Staffs are friendly and helpful too and they prepared a birthday cake for my boyfriend :)

Exceptional Hospitality”

This is a brand new hotel in the heart of Yangon city. Traffic is rather congested to reach there. Anyway, this is common sight in most places of Yangon. The hotel is located in the middle of a lane and it took our driver quite some time to find the exact location on the first day. The entrance of the lane towards the hotel are lined up with street-food hawkers which makes the lane narrower and driving more challenging. It may be a colorful sight for tourists and foreigners to walk pass the street hawkers, but beware of stepping on the "red sputum" on street. The hotel staff are very friendly and we felt too pampered with their excellent and over-whelming services.

Beautiful stunning hotel”

Beautiful new hotel in downtown Yangon. Still in a rather rough area, nevertheless a great location. The staff was very professional and friendly, breakfast great. Nice style and spacious rooms.

One of a kind”

Initially we felt awkward driving pass the back lane, but the hotel is located in heart of Yangon. The western choice of food was awesome. We surprised with the free drinks & tid bits in the room. Worth the stay and must stay

Charming historical building”

This is the old heritage building dated back in 1870 and newly renovated and restored to the modern & luxury hotel. The hotel offered extensive services by providing late check out, ABF, complimentary minibar and unlimited drinking water. There is no view around the premises due to it is located in the old area, but safe to walk around. The room comfort was the major plus of the hotel.

Exceptional”

Stunning hotel in the centre of downtown. We stayed during Thingyan but despite a lot of places being closed the hotel was a welcome reprieve from the heat and water festival. Great location, beautiful hotel, amazing food.

Impeccable”

Great experience in a beautiful building that combines old and contemporary styles. I only stayed for a night but there was not a single thing that I did not enjoy or was not impressed during my short stay. I felt so welcomed by the hotel when I found the letter on the vintage typewriter as I went into the room. The friendly staff is a huge plus. I also liked that the hotel was eco friendly.

Great value for money ”

Gorgeous hotel. It's located right in the city. The rooms are thoughtfully done up. We had an extra person in our room and the hotel staff made sure there were 3 sets of everything. We also had the opportunity to have dinner there and the food was great. Highly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful colonial with a modern touch”

Pros: The hotel is gorgeous, top notch. The room was amazingly beautiful. Bed + pillows were comfortable. Amenities were perfect. Breakfast was so delicious with Great quality even though the selection wasn’t big. But I‘m guessing a large selection reduces the quality of food. The hotel is a few streets away from the central which makes it great as I can access the city by walking and have a quiet room. Cons: Only one, which is the location. Although it’s really close to the city, it is located at a alley-like street without good views. As the hotel has only 4 floors, all rooms have no good views.

Stylish renovation of an old colonial building! ”

The hotel decor was stylish and super comfortable. The public areas were beautiful and had interesting art/books/objects to look at in passing. The café had a cool vibe and had a good European and Asian menu. Food was really good. Unfortunately the steak restaurant was not open during our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. And the location was interesting as it’s easy to check out the colonial architecture from here. Would definitely recommend this hotel!
