Great Location, Excellent Onsen & room!”

Had the opportunity to stay here in Yumoto Fujiya with my family during our visit to Hakone. We chose the Annex Room ( Futon Style sleeping arrangement ). Initially we were worried about hard floors, uncomfortable beddings and small and cramped place that we might have to spend the night. However, when we entered into the room, we were stunned with the immense amount of space we could carry for all 5 of our big luggage around the room and there were stilll space for all the futons to be laid out nicely and plenty of turning area ( for those who move around alot when they sleep ) Futons were super comfortable and we all knocked out pretty soundly after our relaxing soak in the Onsen within the hotel premises. We also opted for the dinner and breakfast inclusion for our hotel stay and the food that was provided was great and excellent! Not forgetting the proximity of the station to the hotel, Yumoto Fujiya is definitely a place i would recommend anyone who is looking for a place !

Convenient Hakone Hotel”

The 3 best things about this hotel were the convenience to the train station, the hot springs (onsen), and the large and clean rooms.

My family and I had a great stay at Yumoto Fujiya Hotel. The hotel is extremely convenient to the train (making it easy if you have to leave early). The hotel held our luggage for us before check-in, gave us advice on dining in the area, and were happy to help quickly when we accidentally locked our keys in the room. The room has all the amenities you need; we wish we had stayed here more than one night! The onsen is clean and relaxing as well and highly recommended if you are staying. One thing to note is that because Hakone is a small town, after 7 pm you have basically no dinner options, and would have to make a reservation at one of the hotel's restaurants to secure dinner or eat at the more casual izakaya in the hotel.

great location”

I traveled with my 62 year old mom and my younger sister. Yumoto Fujiya hotel was right next to the station which is very convenient. By the station there's bus that cost 860 yen to owakudani to see the Mt. Fuji. Lucky for us it was sunny and bright and we decided to give owakudani a shot. Once we got off the bus the Mt. Fuji was right there! It was cold and we went back to the hotel and the hot spring was just right there for us to enjoy. Bed was comfortable and clean. There is fridge, electric kettle and free smart phone in the room. If you booked a room you can reserve the private onsen/hot spring for only 1000 yen. The sign was in Japanese only but we overheard someone made a reservation and I made a reservation after that person. The private onsen was not mention when I checked in. There are some beautiful cherry blossom out of the hotel and the best spot to take pictures of the cherry blossom is the second floor. Overall it was nice and relaxing.

Close by the train station, amazing staff!”

We only stayed in Hakone for 1 night, but this hotel made sure we enjoyed our stay. Massive rooms with a nice view of the hills/valleys (but you can’t see Mt. Fuji). The staff went above and beyond to ensure a good experience for both of us. Tattoos aren’t allowed in the public spa so my boyfriend wasn’t allowed in, but we were able to use a private spa for 45 minutes which was awesome. The location of the hotel is fantastic, close by the Hakone-Yumoto station, less than a 10 minute walk. Beds were comfortable but I would’ve liked to have 1 large bed as opposed to two small ones (my own error when booking). Restaurants looked really nice but were also a little on the pricey side compared to other restaurants on the street. Overall a fantastic experience, thank you for making us feel so welcome!

Exceptional”

Very close to Hakone-Yumoto station, where you can board the RomanceCar or Hakone-Tozan train, and bus station with buses going to Gotemba Premium Outlet and various tourist destination, probably only 3 min away. They provide a free smartphone in the room with wifi capabilities for you to use on your day trips. Spacious room and about 2 pillows and 1 cushion pillow for each person. The nearest convenience store, 7-11, is probably about 10 min walk away, although there are other shops near the train station. Not as scenic as if you stay near Ashi lake but it is a good base as you don't have to lug around your suitcases on the bus. And the bus can get pretty crowded.

Great Hotel, Convenient Location, Overpriced”

Clean, Convenient, Pretty

Everything about this hotel was first class. It was clean, the staff were friendly and the onsen (hot spring) was very comfortable and nice. Unfortunately it has a mixed identity as it was unclear whether it was a traditional Japanese hotel or a western style hotel. The building and amenities were decidedly Western: big, wide open indoor spaces, a large and stiff formal lobby, sit-down restaurants and a moderately English-speaking staff. But they also provide a Japanese style robe and geta (sandals) for you to wear around the hotel. Most people did not do so, and there are no traditional Japanese restaurants with a tatami room and sit-down-on-the-floor experience. So it is not like the more Japanese style hotels I am used to. As a result the experience was a little stiff and not fun. Also, the restaurants serve decent food, but at twice the cost. Although the Fujiya is in a very convenient location, is very clean and well-decorated, if I were to return to Hakone, I probably would avoid the Fujiya Hotel and find a more traditional one.

Sightseeing, onsen, eat, sleep, repeat. ”

Onsen, proximity to train station, access to sightseeing

This was the last stop after a 3 week stay in Hakuba for skiing. It ended up being the near perfect way to decompress before having to fly home. It is very easy, fast, and inexpensive to get there by Shinkaansen (bullet train) going from Tokyo to Odawara after which a short 15 minute ride up to Hakone-Yumoto station on the local train will put you about 2 minutes away by foot. Originally it was going to be three of us staying in a twin room but one person couldn't make it so the staff was kind enough to contact Agoda on my behalf to inform them of the change. I recieved a refund for that person a few days later. The hotel has a large onsen facility on site for guests and those that wish to use it for the day-fee. The onsen facility itself is large and clean though the water quality is just average. Still I recommend visiting the two baths outside one of which is wood and the other stone.

Great location”

Located right across the walking bridge, the hotel is located a few minutes from Hakone/Yumoto station. There's an option for elevator at the base of the hill which made it convenient for my elderly parents. Staff were very friendly and hostesses at the door and in the lobby very attentive. Public and private baths available. I opted for the public and it had both indoor and outdoor bathing and a sauna also. Towel service at entry point. Considering Typhoon Hagibis had just passed thru, the hotel was in great shape. Most of the shops and restaurants in the area were also open. Only downside was weather condition by the lake (25 minutes by bus) was fogged over so no view. Will visit again so I can get the full experience

Great location, but expect to pay in-house dining fees”

I wanted to spend a bit longer in Hakone and find a comfortable, well located onsen hotel. The Yumoto manages to do that very well. While I had picked a cheap room (with no view and unable to look out the window), the short walk from the strain station was ideal. Check-in/out was good/easy and the facilities pretty good. Value for moeny only relates to the room, nothing else. Part of the reason for the visit was to check nearby places to eat as I was not keen (and many people are not keen) to pay double a reasonable rate for meals in a hotel. Well, as a tourist town, this place is a trap - most of the restaurants close at night, so eat-in. It might be part of the Japanese domestic tourism market and how the hotels around Hakone work, but I didn't like feeling captive - so the second night I went to Odawara for dinner.

This is one of the hotels in Hakone area that offers single room, but I actually got a room with two beds. The room is actually pretty roomy for Japan; it even has a sofa chair and desk area. The service is great, I deposit my luggage at front desk before checkin time, when I came back a front desk staff walked me to my room with luggage already inside. Right across the street from Hakone Yumoto station, very good location. The hot spring is very enjoyable. However, this hotel is pretty pricy. Dinner sets cost from 5500yen and up. Rental of DVD player is also 5000+yen per night. No wifi, and the lobby pay computer is really slow. Overall a convenient hotel if you can book it for a good price.

Nice stay”

Perfect location, 2 min walk from the train station after crossing the beautiful water stream and red bridge. The hotel is easily accessible to the main shopping street and the main bus stop next to the train station to other destinations in Hakone. Breakfast is delicious and diverse with japanese and western style. Hotspring is a thumbs up because there is an outside area with a wooden circular tub which is my favourite! All the staff I met during the stay was nice, polite and well-mannered. I will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone considering having a stay in Hakone!

Great!”

Stayed there for a night in the Japanese Western Style room. Everything were perfect, great location (5 minutes walk from Hakone-Yumoto Station), clean, spacious room. Heard the onsen was good, but did not get the chance to use it (private rooms were fully booked). The only down side for me was the restaurants are a little too small for the hotel of this size.

Location, Room, Hot bath

A nice stay at Yumoto Fujiya Hotel. The room is big enough for two of us plus a young child. Location is very near to Hakone Yumoto station. Very convenient.

Huge hotel with great onsen!!!”

Big and beautiful onsen, right beside train station, spacious room!

The stay was awesome and relaxing! Although we only stayed there for one night, the experience couldn't be better! The onsen was huge and has both indoor and outdoor.. There are at least 4 restaurants offering different cuisine in the hotel and the room was so spacious! I had been to Japan before and the rooms are most tiny with a scarily tiny toilet. This hotel however, has a really nice spacious room for even 3 persons to sleep comfortably. The bath room even has a bathtub which is a nice surprise. The staff were really friendly and nice. The hotel is a walking distance to the train station which was important for us as we had to carry a lot of luggages travelling around Japan. I love this hotel and will definitely go back if I visit Hakone again!

Great hotel if you have heavy luggages”

Booked this hotel for 2 nights and we came straight from Haneda airport. Hotel is really convenient as it is situated right beside the hakone yumoto train station and it saved us the hassle of dragging our luggages around. Rooms were decent with public onsen that opens still late and there are a couple of restaurants nearby but they closes early. Will recommend this hotel for those who have heavy bags and will be travelling back to tokyo thereafter, otherwise there are many other cheaper alternative in gora area. Thank you Yumoto Fuijiya Hotel for making out stay a pleasant one :D

Large clean room with good breakfast buffet plus friendly staff”

We asked for our room to be changed as we were given a smoking room which of course smells like one. The staff was friendly enough to accomodate our request immediately. Apparently if you don't ask for non-smoking room youe default is a smoking one. So do explicitly ask for a non smoking one if you don't smoke. We enjoyed our stay. It was peaceful in the hotel area and the onsen facility was terrific. Breakfast buffet was also good! Best of all it was very near hakone yumoto station.

Best hotel out of 4 we stayed in during our trip”

good location near the train station, nice room

We stayed at 4 different hotel during our trip and this was our favorite. It was so convenient to just get off the train from Tokyo, walk across the bridge, then take the elevator up to the lobby. our room was large and clean. We did not have a view (looked out to the rooftop and trees). We enjoyed wearing the yukatas provided to visit the onsen. Particularly liked the outdoor one. We had breakfast vouchers for our stay. There was a long wait for the western breakfast the first day (Monday morning) so we went for hte Japanese breakfast instead which was a tray. That was good. We were able to get into the restaurant without waiting for the western breakfast the next day (weekday so I am assuming less guests). This was a buffet with many western and japanese foods. Had to pay 500 yen for my 3 y/o daughter though whereas at hte Japanese restaurant we didn't (she got rice and we shared our food with her). We ate at the outside restaurants for other meals, just have to make sure you eat before 6pm just in case since they close early. The location was extremely convenient. We spent a day doing the Hakone Round Course, then went to the Izu Peninsula. We enjoyed the views of the river from the bridge.
