Loved our stay here! Only a short train ride away from Kyoto station so it was convenient but away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was also very welcoming and helpful. Would definitely recommend staying here!

Very good”
No public transportation gets there. Found out later that hotel provides shuttle to and from the train station. Do call the hotel to arrange for pick up from the train station.

staff are not helpful”
staff are not flexible, it is my birthday trip and they refuse to prepare cake or any upgrade or even late check out for me. They insist the check out time at 10am even the hotel is not full house. Staff on the phone is not friendly and rude. Their English is bad. The facilities are old, there is neither bath tub nor shower stand in the standard room . You can only go down to the public shower area to take bath. Did not expect this at this price range. Unforgettable birthday trip with bad experience.

Lower ranking”
Old and the spring pools not really good to go. Dinner and breakfast could be better.

Private bathtub was awesome!”
It was a family trip with mom and sis. we had a great time in yuzansou. especially bathtub in our room. you can experience private bath with beautiful biwako (which is large lake in japan) view. I wasn't able to have kaiseki because of my mistake but we did have really good kaiseki near the hotel recommended by yuzanso. It doesn't look fancy or vintage ryokan but it was worth in its own way.

Review of Yuzansou”
The stay at Yuzansou was enjoyable, but we only had one night stay. The onsen was good, and the open bath in the room was beautiful with a great view to the sea. Hotel staff are very efficient, and the waiting staff in the meals room was very warm. Cannot walk to the hotel, need to call the hotel shuttle to send/fetch us to the train station, which is a few minutes drive away.

Beautiful Ryokan / Hotel”
My boyfriend and I opted to splurge for our ryokan, and found that this was one of the only places that offered an outdoor spring bath for the price that we had paid, while other ryokans charged a lot more for a room similar to ours. The view from our room was amazing, day and night! And the room itself was so spacious, and beautiful that I didn't want to leave! In terms of the group bath area, it was great. They provide Shiseido branded items that I definitely trust and love. The staff were very friendly, one of the hotel staff even introduced to us the hotel, our room, and even how to put on a Yukata in detail because we did not know how to read Japanese nor necessarily know how to associate ourselves in such a traditional place. All in all - I would definitely splurge a little for the room with an outdoor bath. If not, their group bath area was splendid on its own!

Best Keiseiki food, perfect room and great onsen”
We got the private onsen for two with breakfast and keiseki dinner. The room was perfect, very big and clean, eqipped with everything you needs (Shisedo brand). The best thing is that we have private onsen with mountain view. It was reallly really superb. The foods are great. They provided us with premium ingredaint e.g. Shark fin egg, premium beek suki yaki, sashimi set (for every dinner) etc. The staffs of the restaurant are very nice. While some of them can speak English well, some cannot but we uses hand sign and it went well. The not-so-good part is the location from Kyoto as it is quite far. Take us some time to travel. The shuttle bus service is quite confusing for the first time as we didnt know how the bus look like and the front desk staff cannot speak English when we called so we waited inside the station for quite sometime and we just asked some taxi driver so they pointed at then hotel bus. The two things I don't like are the fact that the reception cannot speak English and the location but I know what I had booked for. The surrounding and the environment ofbthe hotel is just great. Public outdoor onsen is really nice. Btw, for those who don't have roaming service, there is a pay phone in frint of the station where u can call for the shuttle bus.

Yuzansou Hotel”
The hotel is not within walking distance from the Ogoto Onsen Station. The person at the small tourism counter helped to contact the hotel and a shuttle came to pick us up. We got the room with private onsen and keiseki dinner plus breakfast. We had the same private booth for both meals, which were very delicious. The room is also spacious (comes with 2 toilets). The staff crew tho speaks limited english are very prompt in service. We spent the entire time in the the hotel as its location is not near any amenities and will require a shuttle trip out. It was a good resting time.

Better than expected”
This hotel is recommended by many agencies. Good value for money. Friendly staff and provide everything you need. We expected that the facilities might be a little bit old as the hotel is not new, but they were very clean and good. It was out of our expectation. We have booked the room with a private onsen which was a very wise choice. Enjoying the private onsen under the temperature of 5C with the view of the lake was superb. (And therefore we didnt go to the public onsen haha) The room is spacious and we loved that. The only drawback was the meals are just average. But with this price, we were very ok with that as well. Highly recommended!

I booked the room in japanese style with open air bath for one day. We enjoyed the best view in the room and the open air bath. The public air bath is also very good. This really could provide me a relax, peaceful and enjoyable moment for my trip. The dinner with beef and the breakfast were very good. Staff in the receoption and the driver were very friendly. Although the hotel is a bit away from the JR station, this is easy to make phone to hotel requesting for shuttle bus picking up.

Lots of fun getting away and relaxing”
Fun change for a westerner. No furniture in the living sleeping area. Interesting maze of a hotel with the original and additional parts. Loved my private room and private small onsen. Not as nice as pictured. It was a bit smaller but still big enough for 2 people. Soaking and showering outdoors in the cool air was great. Dining not in-room, but the Kaiseki dinner and breakfast was set in our private dinning room in the restaurant. And the food was really good. comfortable futon bedding. Decent wifi. Loved the whole experience.

Excellent”
This place wasn't as close to the lake as I'd hoped, and was in a very urban city. We didn't have time to check out the lake. The open air bathtub on the balcony had jacuzzi jets and was amazing. We had a gorgeous view of the lake and some hills, which gave us a beautiful scene at sunrise. There was a free shuttle between the nearest train station and hotel. The open air baths were average. The dinner and breakfast were delicious, especially the beef and fish. They gave us robes to wear. The rooms were very large, and the mats were extremely comfortable.

Friendly staff but toilet smells like urine ”
Staffs are very friendly and nice. We booked a room with private outdoor spring bath which is AMAZING!! The hotel room is generally clean but...the toilet does smell like urine, I guess it’s the building material they used....which really trapped the smell, and quite unpleasant. Dinner presentation is great but food quality is average. Overall positive experience.

Nice cherry blossom hotel”
The hotel is a bit old, nut still well maintained. There is a shop at the lobby. The hotel is big and value for money. The onset is located under a cherry blossom tree, from which the cherry blossom pedals fell onto the onset during the blossom season. It was a very nice experience

Exceptional and Relax”
Hotel provides shuttle bus (white van) from hotel only to train station. May need to call to hotel for pick up. Other than public bath and private bath in hotel, there is nothing else. Not all staff are able to speak English (as expected) but they tried to communicate.

Very nice hot spring”
The room is excellent. If you go there by JR, you can tell the staff in station and they'll help you call the hotel for pick up. Free shuttle is very important because you have to climb up the a bit and walk for a while.
