Recommended when on a budget to Legoland Malaysia”

We booked Zen Zeng Hotel few minutes before our trip to Johor Bahru last September 2012 for our visit to Legoland Malaysia. The room is small but clean and with good airconditioning unit, TV and fast & FREE wifi, with distilled water dispenser too every floor. Breakfast is inclusive of the package but we failed to avail because of our trip. When on a budget, I recommend Zen Zeng Hotel!

Best choice in city for a good price”

We tried few different stays in Johor. It was hard to find something good and then we found Zen Zeng Hotel. We really enjoyed our stay and personnel is wonderful.

lovely hotel and great location”

he Zen Zeng Hotel is what it is meaning it's a budget hotel. For 53RM a night (10quid), it is comfortable, quiet and basic. My room had its own bathroom, TV receiving Singapore channels as well as Malaysian. The rooms are cleaned everyday and the staff are friendly. One of the best things is the security cards for the hotel doors, so I felt my stuff was safe. Huge hypermarket 10 mins away, burger stall man around the corner and easy access to the main road. One tip: best not to walk around JB late at night on your own as bag-snatching is 'common'.

Awesome Comfy Stay”

My 3 day stay at the Zeng Zeng Hotel was quite a pleasant experience. The hotel staff is very helpful and caring. Helped me quite a lot on a couple of minor things. Also really easy to get a cab to/fro from the hotel, as the hotel is quite heard of in the city. Also a great Indian restaurant next door. Overall, a great place for the First-timers in the city and an excellent value for money. :)

This hotel is an excellent hotel and value for money. For the rate I paid I believe I got a good deal. Very centrally located. No complaints. For the price I paid, it is too good to be true. Not only I will recommend this hotel to my friends I will also go back to the hotel If I am in Johore Bharu again.

Nice hotel and awesome friendliness of frontdesk”

A nice hotel at an affordable price but what truly made my stay is the friendliness of the frontdesk staff name from wakaf bharu, Kelantan. she was willing to assist us and answered all of our enquiries politely. my recommendation to Zen Zeng, keep as your employee then, the customer will be happy.

okay for a budget hotel”

hotel is centrally located, just few minutes drive to the mall and close enough to Johor Bahru city center. they provide ala carte breakfast at the north indian restaurant besides hotel. Bed could be a little hard but acceptable for budget hotel, clean and okay for short trip. alot of food stalls nearby, must try the coconut shake 2mins away from hotel.

Basic hotel”

Basic hotel with poor breakfast but clean and cheap. Short distance to city center, shopping center ( Danga City Mall), also three hindu temple in some minutes distance incl. Glass Temple (tickets 10 RM), most amazing temple in Johor Bahru. Hotel is near railway road but trains are not so noisly.Little shops and cafe-bar nearby.

This is my first time visit to johor bahru , i came early and the room was ready. I booked for a superior room and the room was very big and lovely with a great view of the city. we went to legoland it was 20 minutes ride by taxi. As for dinner, we went to the ksl mall which is attached to the hotel there are lots of restaurants. Also there are some restaurants too outside the hotel..the breakfast was 5 star..and the staffs were also very helpful

Best budget hotel”

It was a very pleasant stay for us at the hotel. The location is superb! As every location we want to visit are nearby (we travelled by car). I was worried at first when other travellers commented about train sound but to my surprise, there was none that disturbed our sleep. The room is clean and the bathroom looks new. The free breakfast is almost the same & served next door. However, the area of the hotel is quite lonely even in the daylight so, for female and family travellers be aware and try to park nearer to the hotel. Danga City Mall is in the walking distance from the hotel. The rest of the city can be reached in around 20mins max (again, we had car). The staffs are friendly and always with a smile. The renovation is still ongoing hence there are paint stench in the lift and corridor. Altogether, it was a wonderful stay and definitely enhanced our entire trip as we saved A LOT on time.

Superbly located hotel in JB”

Very strategically located hotel in JB. RM6 by Grab to Larkin Sentral, RM 6 to JB Sentral, RM7 to UTC JB and RM5 to KSL Resort. Walking distance to Indonesian Consulate. Facilities are good for the price you pay. Minor defects but need to be overlooked .TV, hot water shower, coffee making facility and tooth brush cum paste provided.Slight noise from opening/closing of neighbouring room doors and the occasional train noise. Otherwise strongly recommended for the budget conscious.

Good Budget Hotel Near City Centre”

First of all remember this is a cheap, one star hotel. I personally pride myself for being flexible and able to stay in 5* hotels as well as 1* hotel such as the Zen Zeng Hotel. So please keep in mind you've been "warned" this is a one star hotel, a cheap hotel, a very basic hotel and one that is not located in an upmarket area. Nevertheless, for it's price this is a great hotel. It has an elevator, 24hr reception, your typical plastic key cards, and it's clean. The main reason I gave it the maximum rating was for its staff. They were very helpful, caring and they even called a taxi and made sure they talked to the driver where I needed to go so that the taxi driver won't over charge me. The receptionist even made me smile when she realized I haven't had breakfast there and reminded me of it. I don't mind sleeping in a 1* hotel and I don't want to seem insulting but the idea of having breakfast here just wasn't very appealing to me. The room was old but clean. The toilet worked fine so did the air conditioning. A little "scary" was the first time you hear the train going past but after the second time you get used to it. There was a working TV in the room and also you can have a hot shower. The towel and bed lining while clean were definitely worn out. But then again at just over $20 per night (including breakfast) I honestly wonder what some travelers expect. One nice touch was the fact there were two free toothbrush packs, something you sometimes don't get even in a 5* hotel.

A very comfortable Budget hotel ”

I was very surprised by how clean & well maintained it is as I thought for the price I was paying, it will be a very rundown & terrible hotel but I was completely wrong & impressed by how nice it smells (as some hotels have the mouldy kind of smell), the aircon was very strong, entire premises was clean and surprisingly they also provide necessities like towels, toothbrush, shampoo and bath gel. Location is near city square & ksl. Good stay.

convenient for taxi to singapore”

Zen zeng is a convenient stop over for singapore. Its a short taxi ride to raya taxi stand where you can share a taxi for 15ringgit to central singapore. This is the best way into Singapore. You stay in the taxi through immigration, so no lining up with your luggage. The taxi continues into central singapore.

Comfortable and close to the centre of Johor Bahru”

Comfortable and nice room. Singapore immigration forms provided and theme parks tickets available. Close to Johor Bahru's centre (15mins walk). The breakfast was not really good with little variety of choices, only fried nooldes or toast to choose. However, the cost of the room was great in city centre.

Good location and near to eat out”

The location was good as it’s far from town busyness and yet near to jb town. The room was decent but no wardrobe and hanger, travellers who wish to book this hotel need to take note of this. The iron and board available but need to request for iron which do not have burn stain on it or otherwise will damage your clothes. The hotel need to clean underneath the bedding once a while as there was tremendous dust luckily never come across any cockroaches. Toilet was clean and water flow good but the toilet kind of small but fine with the price paid. If travellers are looking for more spacious room for stay with cheap price this is the best hotel.
